Maidstone Youth Forum have been working hard to get the website up and running ready for the launch on 30th November.

In the Stone offers advice on sexual health, obesity, bullying, homelessness, drugs & alcohol, education, careers, money matters as well as information on local sports and youth clubs in the area, reviews on the latest films, music and games, cinema listings, calendar of events and more!

The idea of the website came about after Maidstone Youth Forum carried out a short survey to find out where young people find out  their information. The top two answers were:

* We don’t know where to find information

* Search on the internet

Maidstone Youth Forum decided to combine both of these answers to create ‘In The Stone’. They applied for funding and were successful in receiving £5,000 from the Youth Opportunity Fund.

The project took a little while to get going as Maidstone Youth Forum wanted to make sure the company they chose to build the website would work with them and their ideas. Once the company was chosen the group held workshops to get the designs of the website confirmed and then started to write the content of the website.

Now, the website is nearly complete and we hope to see you at the launch of the website on 30th November, 3pm – 6pm @ Babylon Live Lounge, King Street.

Equipped with free wireless access, flat screen TV and sound system this is a great safe central location where young people can meet friends and hangout or just chill out with a milkshake, hot chocolate or coffee without being moved on or can be just a safe place to wait for a lift or bus.

Switch is a safe alcohol free environment where drinks and snacks are affordable, where young people can socialise in the warm, with things to do, music to listen and get involved with various projects.

Switch is a much-needed social space in Maidstone town centre that can be used by young people and any local organisations involved with them.
